Leicester’s 2016/2017 Premier League fixtures, announced today

England took a pause from Euro 2016 today and focused on the Premier League, as the fixtures for the upcoming season were announced. Like expected, winning the title brought Leicester a lot of advantages, as the Foxes can’t complain at all about how their first entry into Europe has been treated.

Claudio Ranieri’s team were given six Premier League home games straight after their Champions League clashes, according to Sky Sport, giving them the perfect occasion to recover after the games in Europe, without having to worry about making long trips in the next day.

“Top four managers tend to look with suspicion at the fixtures that follow each of their Champions League games, when travel fatigue can be a factor,” said BBS Sport’s Simon Stone. “Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri will be happy to see his side have been given six home games immediately after those matches.” he added.

Leicester’s rivals weren’t that lucky though, as Premier League runners-up, Tottenham Hotspur, have been given four away games out of six after their Champions League games. Even more, these away games we’re talking about are visits to Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

As for Arsenal, they also have four home games out of six, while Manchester City have three out of six, but only if they manage to get through the two legs of Champions League play-off, scheduled for August.

The Foxes have an easy start in their Premier League title defense, starting the season with a game to newly-promoted Hull City. Still, despite their amazing luck, they still have a couple of tough matches in the beginning of the season, meeting Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in the first six weeks.

Last season, Leicester was starting with odds of 5000-1 to complete what can be considered the most unexpected title win in Premier League history. Currently, the number dropped significantly, as they’re the 7th favorite, after Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
