Even though the auditions have just begun, the first rumours about the new X Factor season started spreading. Today’s start: Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger. According to The Daily Mail, the former Pussycat Dolls lead singer will earn 125,000 more than Mrs. Osbourne, despite the latter’s clause asking for her to be the highest paid judge.
To be more specific, we’re talking about a total of £1.8 million pay deal which Nicole, 37, will receive. On the other side, Sharon Osbourne, 63, will receive £1.7 million.
“Sharon stipulated that she had to be the highest paid judge other than Simon [Cowell] on the panel. But what she doesn’t know is that Nicole is set to pocket an extra £125,000,” says one of The Mirror’s sources.
“This will surely anger Sharon, who feels she’s worth more than Nicole. She’s more experienced after sitting on the panel for five series, compared to Nicole’s two.”
Still, it seems that Nicole Scherzinger’s decision to drop out of her role as Grizabella from the Broadway in order to take part at this year’s X Factor weighed a lot when it came to deciding the final payments for jury members.
Even more, there were a lot of critics who haven’t seen Nicole’s decision to leave the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also declared that he’s furious after the singer decided to let him down.
“I’m furious because I really believe she’s the most fantastically brilliant girl and I went out on a limb to get her at the Palladium and now I look like an absolute twot with them all,” Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber said.
‘A week before we were due to go into rehearsals with Cats, which luckily I’m not producing I have to say, she calls me and says she’s decided to do X Factor, having agreed to it. She’s crazy, but the American producers took a view of. Oh fine, we’ll get someone else. She’s actually not that well known in America. She’s better known here,” said Anne McElvoy, from The Economist.
