The offers for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez kept coming in the past weeks, multiple major clubs being interested in the Algerian midfielder’s services, including Arsenal, which eventually declared that they are no longer pursuing the player.

Considering this, The Foxes had all the reasons to offer Mahrez, who was also crowned PFA Player of the Year, a new contract worth 100,000 a week, in order to keep him at King Power Stadium for at least 12 more months and secure Champions League football for the forthcoming season.

It’s worth mentioning that the winger had a huge role in Leicester’s British Premier League success, scoring 17 goals, so it was obvious that sooner or later a new contract would be offered.

Despite this offer though, Riyad Mahrez doesn’t rule out the idea of leaving Leicester. Arsenal might have declared that they’re now after Borussia Dortmund Henrikh Mkhitaryan, clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris St-Germain are still interested in signing Mahrez.

If the player decides to leave eventually, he won’t be cheap. Any club interested in having Mahrez in their shirt would have to pay over 30 million, since the player doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, meaning that Leicester can ask for any price they ant As a side note, they got him for just 400,000, from Le Havre, in January 2014.

According to multiple rumors, Riyad Mahrez is expected to decide upon his future later this summer. Also, his decision might be highly influenced by the potential sales of Jamie Vardy and K’Golo Kante, both linked with moves to Arsenal, respectively Chelsea, who should also announce where they want in the upcoming season soon.

“Nothing is agreed, nothing is done. We will see. For the moment I have not made a decision. We will see. It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave,” the player said. “The season went very well. We have won the league which was very important. It is incredible. It was by far my best season in my career,” Mahrez added.
